Paul Jones was the Cashier for Toledo National Bank. The Jones family included Paul, wife Margret (Mary), daughters Jessie and Haidee, and sons Charles and Fletcher. Margret’s mother Mary also lived with the family. The Jones residence became known as the Haunted House after daughter Haidee killed herself.

In April of 1873 Paul Jones sold the Haunted House property to Benjamin S. Compton for $16,000. The property then changed hands over the years and into the early twentieth century. Commercial buildings were built in front of the house facing Madison street, as well as to the rear of the house facing 13th street. During that time the house was repurposed as part of the Baer Colonial Furniture business until 1909 when it was destroyed by fire.
